About the Event
Come to mActivity to join NHCAT with Charles Brown to discuss the world-wide growth of Ciclovias and how New Haven could institute an Open Streets event where motorized traffic is banned from the route. Charles will give a presentation about Ciclovias and the impact they can have on community health, economic growth, promotion of equity and citizen mobilization for safe streets for all.
Charles served on the founding committee of the New Brunswick Ciclovia and has visited and studied them in the US and abroad. Charles considers himself a "street-level researcher" and works at the intersection of transportation, health, and equity. Charles currently serves as a senior researcher with the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) and adjunct professor at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. With more than a decade of public and private sector experience in urban and regional planning, public policy, and research, Charles has served as a course instructor for the National Transit Institute (NTI), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Federal Highway Administration, New Jersey Departments of Transportation and Health.
