May 3rd - Fair Haven Day Festival​

​Join neighbors for Fair Haven Day, a parade and festival celebrating community, local arts and artists, culture, sports, creativity, entrepreneurship, and partnership, presented by and for the Fair Haven neighborhood. During this festival, there will be numerous bike activities including (1) A Bike Rodeo hosted by NCAT; (2) Free Bike Repair Clinic by Bradley Street Bicycle Co-op; and (3) A Free Bike Giveaway sponsored by The Devils Gear Bike Shop.

When: Saturday, May 3rd — Parade at noon, Festival 1-5pm

May 9th - New Haven Bike Party: Celestial Bodies​

Join for a slow bicycle ride exploring 8 miles of New Haven with music, drinks, and new friends. Theme for May 2025 is Celestial Bodies. Facebook Event Link

May 10th - Wake Up the Green​

The Proprietors of the New Haven Green will be celebrating Wake Up the Green Spring Festival on Saturday, May 10 from 10:30-4PM on the New Haven Green. The event will mark the start of spring and encourage the citizens of New Haven to get out and enjoy our beautiful city and the New Haven Green! To open the event, a reenactment of Powder House Day is held, taking place at 10:30 AM. To learn more about Powder House Day, read more below.​ Wake Up the Green is family-friendly, leashed pet-friendly, and open to all! Community activities are free to participate in with options to shop from local vendors and purchase food & drink. There will be various bike tabling and activities during the event!

Join for the BIG week during Bike Month: Bike to Work Week! Throughout the week, we will be hosting various Bike to Work Breakfast around town. Meet, eat and ride. ​

Stop Project Maple Ride

Join the Stop Project Maple coalition, Sierra Club Connecticut, Sunrise New Haven, and Radical Adventure Riders for a ride in New Haven looking at fossil fuel infrastructure throughout the city and including a conversation about the impact of fossil fuel expansion on our state, including through the Project Maple pipeline expansion by Enbridge. The ride will be beginner friendly looking at fossil fuel infrastructure within the city. Please come prepared with a bike, helmet, clothes you feel comfortable in and that are weather appropriate, water, snacks, and anything else you need! RSVP here.

Bike to "Celebrating Long Wharf Pier – A National Historic Place"

Join the City and the New Haven Preservation Trust to celebrate the listing of Long Wharf Pier on the National Register of Historic Places. Talk by historian Bruce Clouette at 5:30pm, followed by a reception with ice cream on the pier at 6:30pm. Registration at event is encouraged here.

When: Tuesday, May 27, 5:30 p.m.
Where: Meet at Lanson Memorial at 4:45pm and start ride at 5:00pm — with the event taking place at the Boathouse at Canal Dock (475 Long Wharf Drive)

Coffee Outside - Fridays in May
Bring your coffee, tea or other food and drinks! We meet, ride to the top of East Rock, and drink coffee outside! Walkers and other modes of transport are welcome to meet at the top, at the look out near the Sailors and Soldiers Monument.

Goatville Cyclesmith will be hosting a Coffee on the Corner to close out Bike Month! Special thank you to Joel LaChance for sponsoring this special breakfast.

Outspokin' Rides

  • Sunday Outspokin Rides: Meet Sunday mornings throughout May at P&M Market on Orange St at 10am for a no-drop social ride.  The pace is 10-12 mph and the distance is 20-35 miles.

  • Ice Cream Social Rides: Meet at the flagpole on the New Haven Green at 5:45pm on Wednesday evenings for a no-drop social ride.  The ride will visit a different ice cream parlor each week.  The ride is 10 - 20 miles and goes at a 10mph pace.  All are welcome.

  • May 25th - Northampton Ride: Outspokin will be riding from New Haven to Northampton MA (80 miles) on Sunday, May 25th.  We leave from the flagpole on the New Haven Green at 8am.  Coffee stop in Southington, lunch in Southwick MA, and dinner in Northampton.  Cars will be in Northampton for the return. Newhallville Bike Box Clinics

The Bike Box is a collaboration between the Bradley Street Bicycle Co-op and the Community Place-making Engagement Network (CPEN) to bring free bike repairs and maintenance classes to the Newhallville neighborhood. Check out the dates for our Saturday repair clinics! From 10am-1pm we will be at the bike box making sure that everyone has a safe, reliable bike to get around on. Volunteers and learning bike mechanics are welcome! Learn more here.
