Jay Stange

Jay Stange is an active transportation consultant, writer, musician and coach who moved to West Hartford, CT, from Alaska in 2020. He's been a classroom teacher (high school math and special education), community development director, media consultant, and a reporter. Most recently, Jay was Program Manager for Transport Hartford, where he began a campaign for free bus passes for Connecticut High School students. Working with partners, Jay secured a 500-student free bus pass pilot program for Hartford high school students in the 2024-2025 school year and passed Public Act 25-65, which includes 50 percent CTtransit discounts for high school students and Veterans. He serves on the West Hartford Vision Zero Task Force and supports the K-P Bike Bus.
