Job Title: Director of Education
Type: Part-Time, Hourly (25 hours/week)
Schedule: some remote and some in-person; 4-5 days per week, including evenings and weekends

Terms of Employment - This is an at-will, part-time, and grant-funded position. This position requires a background check due to work with youth and teens.
Compensation - Bi-monthly payments for 25 hours/week of work at $30 per hour.
Duties will include:
Preparing and Finalizing NCAT’s schedule of bike education classes
Identifying and securing bike education class venues
Coordinating online class registration with Communications Consultant
Coordinating advertising of available classes in the newsletter and other outlets
Listing all classes on the website of the League of American Bicyclists
Communicating promptly with registered class participants and those on waiting lists
Maintaining accurate records of classes, participants, and waiting lists including demographic and contact information
Ordering teaching materials from the League of American Bicyclists and ensure adequate photocopies of handouts
Organizing and distributing teaching materials and other physical materials for each class (waivers, handouts, bike helmets, lights, etc.)
Communicating with LCIs and assisting instructors who register to teach classes and maintain accurate records
Coordinating with teachers and collecting waivers from all participants and other required paperwork
Creating lesson plans to further the education programs of NCAT, including non-cycling education and pedagogy improvements
Managing and coaching of instructors to improve our teaching offerings
Ensuring all instructors who teach classes are in compliance with membership and insurance requirements of the League of American Bicyclists
Tracking and reporting actual expenses for different sources of grant revenue
Assisting with grant applications and grant report writing
Attending public meetings to advocate for NCAT and to advertise NCAT’s programming
Attending quarterly board meetings of NCAT
Providing advocacy at public meetings in line with the message of the organization
Other duties as directed by Chair of Board
Qualifications and requirements
NCAT is looking for someone who:
Communicates effectively in person and electronically with the public about the work of NCAT, with participants about bike education classes, and with LCIs who will be teaching
Works effectively with teams both remotely and in person
Manages time effectively and is willing to work some evenings and weekends when most classes will be offered
Has access to a reliable mode(s) of transportation
Has a driver’s license and good driving record
Has access to a computer and reliable Internet
Preferably holds a current League Cycling Instructor (LCI) certification
Multilingual candidates, particularly those fluent in Spanish and English, are preferred
NCAT promotes walking, biking, and all active forms of transportation as healthy, safe, and environmentally friendly. NCAT believes education should be free, widely available, and include all forms of active transportation to meet the needs of New Haven students, residents, employees, public safety officials, and visitors. NCAT has been offering bike education classes free of charge to people of all ages and abilities in New Haven and uses the bike education curriculum of the League of American Bicyclists.
