Help the New Haven Coalition for Active Transportation (NCAT) continue to fund bike education and safety in public schools in our communities. In 2024-2025, NCAT launched a successful in-school program in the public schools, teaching second grade students how to have fun and to ride safely. NCAT hopes to expand that program in 2026. NCAT also ran a successful bike afterschool program for 4th and 5th grades at East Rock Community Magnet School every Thursday, riding sidewalks, multiuse trails, and streets in and around East Rock Park. NCAT regularly held learn-to-ride and intermediate classes for adults and kids in the Greater New Haven area throughout 2025. We used similar sites to last year, including the Fair Haven Library, Wilbur Cross High School, and Wexler-Grant Community School. We held classes on the concrete Daniel Stewart Plaza next to the Dixwell Q House for three classes this quarter, and we reserved the space for two more classes in July and three more classes in August. Your donations are needed to help NCAT continue to provide learn-to-ride and bike safety education to children and adults within our communities. The NCAT Board has established a challenge for us to meet a $5,000 fundraising goal that will be matched dollar for dollar. So you can double the impact of your generosity. Please donate today! NCAT strives to increase the use of fun, equitable, and safe forms of self-powered transportation, putting wheels and feet on every street. NCAT promotes the enjoyment, adoption, and safety of self-powered transportation in our communities through education, advocacy, and funding to organizations to implement programs, policies, and systems change.
